Hans Cafe Concept
Third Year, Trimester 1, Environment Design 4
A proposal was put forward to setup a restaurant at the site of the Media House within the vicinity of North Metro TAFE in Northbridge. The Hans Cafe franchise has been a successful business, though for a while it has had huge problems at its current Northbridge location, so it's hoped that it can have a new beginning here in this heritage-listed building.

Concept
After first receiving the Media House floor plan (it used to be a residential building a long time ago), the next task was to clear it out, leaving just the supporting walls, and doing so would finally show me what I truly had to work with.. By this stage, I'd already done research on existing Hans Cafe locations, though I contemplated how I could bring the theme of Hans Cafe to life even more than what had been done previously...
To emphasise this, it was decided to install a big statue right in the middle that would stand the height of both floors, along with a surrounding glass transparent box for safety purposes. To compliment this, I went with traditional materials, such as bamboo for many elements...
Due to the limitation space available, I had to think extra hard with how to best arrange the tables. Booths are popular, but not space efficient, so only a few could fit, the square tables were all rotated diagonally, allowing for maximum possible tables, whilst allowing for the necessary space between, ensuring sufficient traffic flow.
